My Approach
It's not easy asking for help. I understand that expressing vulnerability can be intimidating and uncomfortable. Using a trauma-informed approach, I help clients understand the impact of adverse experiences and complex trauma to help restore their sense of safety, choice, and control. I welcome diverse worldviews and promise to provide care that is humanistic, open-minded, compassionate, and strengths-based.
During our work together, I will help you identify your strengths and unlearn behaviors that may have led to self-sabotage in the past, removing you from your goals. As we experience hardships and trauma, our sense of self fractalizes, making it difficult to trust our instincts.
To rebuild a person's sense of self and autonomy, it is important to establish fundamental skills in emotional regulation, introspection, communication, distress tolerance, conflict resolution, and mindfulness.

Utilizing my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and specializations in Clinical Neurobiology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play/Art therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindfulness techniques, I will help you create coping skills that will improve the quality of your life.

Over time, stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression can damage our nervous system and brain structure, causing an increased inability to regulate emotions, think rationally, and plan for the future. To allow for better emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, having an in-depth understanding of our limbic system, better known as our fight or flight system, is necessary.

During our sessions, I provide psychoeducation surrounding the biopsychological drives of our threat detection system, known as the limbic system, which is comprised of four main structures including the hypothalamus, amygdala, thalamus, and hippocampus. Our limbic system, one of the oldest structures in the brain, functions as our emotional nervous system, processing and managing our emotions, autonomic nervous system (heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature), behaviors, and motivations.
Without an in-depth understanding of the fight or flight and dopaminergic systems, it's increasingly difficult to manage our emotions, thoughts, drives, and impulses. I provide quality, up-to-date psychoeducation and coping skills to help you out of dysregulated states, so you can regain control of your body and mind leading to greater self-confidence. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that is specifically tailored to your needs, producing results quickly and effectively.
